SYNOPSIS
Jennifer Walker (30s), is a dedicated marketing director in a committed relationship. To her surprise, her firm brings in a new executive from a rival company to head a campaign she created. She leaves the firm discouraged, and heads out-of-town to visit her best friend, only to discover her friend is having an affair with her boyfriend.
Jennifer drives into the night, deep into the country and ends up stranded with a flat tire. An older couple rescue her and offer to let her stay in the run-down farm house they taking care of. She awakes the next morning to the beauty and tranquility of the countryside. She discovers the run-down-farm is for sale by the family of the couple and asks if she could rent the place for the summer, agreeing to help fix it up in exchange for rent.
A city woman alone on a farm is a novelty for the locals. One unkempt farmhand makes himself very helpful, hoping for favors in return. She does her best to avoid him while making friends with some local woman. She work tirelessly fixing up the farm and becomes interested in a nearby group of neglected horses. She knows nothing about taking care of horses, but she feels she needs to help the skinny, unmanaged animals. She discovers the owner is an elderly widow unable to give the horses proper care. Jennifer offers to lend a hand. Sam, the local sheriff, who is also a natural horse trainer, offers to help train both Jennifer and the horses. When the old woman gets sick, Jennifer moves the horses to her farm.
Jennifer and Sam work closely together to rehabilitate the horses. Jennifer also helps her friends and the neighbors promote their upcoming harvest festival. Hesitant at first, the community warms up to her and they have their biggest festival in twenty-five years. At the harvest ball, the unkempt farmhand, who fancies Jennifer, gets jealous and tries to pick a fight with Sam. Later that night, in a drunken fit, the farmhand steals one of the horses Jennifer is looking after. Jennifer chases him down in her car. During the chase, the farmhand is thrown from the horse and Jennifer puts her truck in a ditch. With no one around to help, Jennifer must get on her horse in order to save the farmhand’s life.
Now an accepted member of the community, Jennifer is asked to handle a marketing campaign to promote the town as a tourist attraction. The old couple offer Jennifer a special deal on purchasing the farm she has worked so hard fixing up and she is able to take full possession of the horse.
With her farm, horses, job and new friends, Jennifer now has the means to build a new life, where she is in control of her future.
